Champions Makes it a Dozen
Congratulations to Stuart McKendrick who makes it his 12th Scratch Club Championship Title, whilst Gwen Lambie makes it 12 in a row for the Ladies Scratch Champion.
Sunday 3rd July sees the final round of the Men's Strokeplay Championship. It is unfortunate that there is also a Perth and Kinross Junior Meeting at the same time, and as I write this blog, already there are moans and groans about the pin positions. I dare saw Graham Hutchison has been upset at something this week.
Tuesday (5th) sees the Quarter-Finals of the Bell Trophy. with Dunkeld and Birnam GC having a home tie against Muthill Golf Club. I note that they have been to the course for a practice round (Sunday), so I will ensure that Greenkeeper Graham changes the pin positions before then!! I often email a number of people looking for them to play, but usually only get 5 responses or so back. That usually means you will see the same players playing in every round. This is fine, if it is a winning team (so far so good), but not for resilience. Will soon find out if the "Canter to the Cowan" is a good idea when our top 6 are invited to play for the club.
And on that note, the "Canter" continues and is hotting up, with only 8 rounds left, potentially giving someone 80 points, the leaderboard continues to change.
The top 6 are:
Ross MacDonald (132), Steven Park (114), Stephen Moon (86), Steve Gilroy (75), Martin Foster (70), and Andrew Boler (66).
With the exception of Ross and Steven, the other places are perhaps not guarantee with a host of players, around 14, with the potential to jump into the top 6.
A full list of the "The Canter" is on the Gent's notice board.
The final qualifying "Extra Medal" will be on Monday 1st August.
If any member has any ideas or suggestions which can be put the Club Committee, don't hesitate to contact Claire or any member of the Club's committee.
