Competition Handicaps
Every so often, we learn something new. So when checking scores in a recent medal, I found that a member who had a handicap of 28, the computer gave the player a maximum of 24 in what was an Extra Medal. There a short discussion as to why this was, but I never realised that members who had an official handicap of 25 - 28, were never allowed to play off more than 24. In January this year, I attended a seminar of the changes to the new handicapping system (which effectively all
Ladies Daily Mail
The Committee have to congratulate our Daily Mail Ladies team of Hilary Cunningham and Anne Walker, who, having battle 6 rounds in this national competition, finally bowed out in round 7 at Cardross Golf Club. The Ladies lost 5 and 3, but were 2 rounds away from representing Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club at the National finals in Wales. A fantastic achievement for our wee friendly golf club.

Ross MacDonald (146) cemented his first position and is guaranteed his invitation to play for the club, whilst Steven Park (118) is also safe from the back markers catching him. With only two rounds left, Stephen Moon (108) looks set to remain in the top 6. Steve G

Canter Continues
As the Canter reaches the home straight, the race at the top is changing after every Extra Medal. Ross MacDonald (134), and Steven Park (118) continue to be the front runners, and their places seem assured. Stephen Moon (108) has almost guaranteed a place, but another good finish in one of the remaining rounds should see this cemented. D D MacDonald (94) leaps into the top six for the first time after two back to back wins in the last extra medals, and further good round shou

Rattray Cup Update
There is a saying "...you can't please everyone, all of the time..." and having done the SGU Referee's Course, I can add, "...a referee is 95% bored and 5% terrified...". And so you have the Match Secretary's job in a nutshell, when it comes to making decisions. So when the 4th round (best 3 cards of 4), of the Rattray Cup saw some players abandoning their game due to a water-logged course, the buck stops at the Match Secretary for a decision as to what to do next! Initial de
Bell Trophy Exit/ Ladies Battle on in Daily Mail
Our Bell Trophy run came to an end on Tuesday when we lost narrowly to Muthill Golf Club 3-2. It was unfortunate that they had a practice round on the previous Sunday, despite the Greenkeeper changing some holes prior to the match. But, Hey Ho!, we did better than the likes of B;airgowrie GC by getting to the Quarter Finals. On a more positive notes, our Daily Mail Ladies have reached the 6th round and are two rounds off getting to the major finals of this event. Good Luck to
