Winter League Christmas Lunch

What a cracking final week we had for our last competitive round of 2016. In the DABS Winter League, youngster John Young (aged 92 years 11 months) took the honours with 41pts!! Dave MacDougall (80 years), came second with 40 points, but took the money in the "proper" Winter League by having the best handicap score. Ronald Lambie had a fantastic scratch 68 (nett 64) on the normal greens, taking top spot for Week 8. At the half way stage, he tops the Group Eclectic Scores on 57 with Douglas Ogilvie just behind on 58. In the handicap, Dave MacDougall topped 5 players all on nett61. Tam Lindsay and Ally Wood had the better halves to take some money squeezing out Douglas Ogilvie for the 2nd week

Christmas Lunch Sunday

All members and guests are welcome to join us at the club on Sunday 18th December 2016, where a full Christmas Turkey lunch will be on offer between 12pm and 3.00pm Veg Soup and Bread/ Turkey and all the trimmings/ Chocolate Tart/ Coffee and Mince Pies, all for £12.00 Booking is essential, and should be made by emailing the club or Steve Gilroy by Friday 16th December 2016. This will be the last chance of a get together before the end of 2016, and the last 2016 Winter League weekend. Come and join in the festivities, before you endure the stressful week running up to Christmas!

Winter League Wk7 - Balmy Conditions

What a week it has been! The temperature has risen, and the Winter League is hotting up!. This was one of those mixture weekends, where players could elect to use the normal greens OR the temporary winter greens. Regardless of which greens, eccies were still found. Colin Nisbet had a nice scratch 71 to take the money. He jointly shared top spot for h/c prize with Donald Cockbill on 59, but Donald's superior inward half took the top money. Tam Stewart had a solo nett 61 to take 2nd H/c, with a three way tie for 3rd spot. Donald MacDonald, Doug Ogilvie and Jim Townsley all had 63's, but Donald took the last of the money, with a better inward 6 over Doug. The temperature is looking fine for the

Winter Preferred Lies

Having discussed this with various people, it would appear that normally preferred lies extends to the semi-rough. Greenkeeper advises this is a better idea, as it prevents an incease in divot marks etc. So with immediate effect, preferred lies includes the fairway and semi-rough.

Winter League Wk6

Week 6 saw another sunny but cold day, with play on the Temporary Greens. Ronald Lambie posted the first sub-30 9 hole score with an inward 28, securing a 1st place scratch score of 67. In the handicap, familiar names continue to feature in the winner's list. Andy Moncur finally took some money with a"signed" scorecard with a nett 59. Andy Taylor featured for the first time with a nett 61, and that man Wattie Barbour again took some cash coming third with a nett 62. Numerous Eccies were bagged at the weekend, Ronald Lambie having one 4 in the inward half spoiling his 28 and into a sub 60 round with a 58, only one of two players into the 50's at this earlier stage.
