Winter League Wk1 Results

A beautiful sunny and warm greeted 28 players for the start of the Winter League Season.

First Results are:- 1st Scratch - David Crowder (71); 1st H/c - Wattie Barbour (Nett 60), 2nd H/c Colin Nisbet (Nett 61); 3rd H/c Jim Townsley (nett 62 bih).

In the Ecelectic, (0-9) David Crowder leads with his 71 over Douglas Ogilvie's 72; with Peter Russell the only other player in this category on 80.

(10-17) Category sees Wattie Barbour lead with his 73, Colin Nisbet (74), and Jim Townsley (76) following behind that.

And the (18+) has Hugh Kerr (82), followed by Jim Samson (86) and Andy Taylor on 87, so much room for improvement.

As from Monday 6th November, the tees revert to their winter ones and the normal tees are removed. Whilst always a contentious issue, players can play to the normal greens if the weather has allowed. It was noted that some players opted to play a combination of normal and winter greens on Sunday. I have no issue with this. The SSS for the "short course" is 64.

One of the agreed rules for the Winter League is that players have their handicap cut by 0.5 for every one full stroke under the sss of 64, so a few players have already had their advantage reduced.

Only about 20 odd rounds to go...let's hope for a good winter.
